Yesterday was Thanksgiving. Traditionally a day for family, food, and football. It was all of that and we had a great time. Today is “Black Friday”. The day the Christmas shopping season begins. The day the stores open early with monster sales in hope to push their bottom line out of the red and into the black in hopes of ending the year with a good profit. Traditionally people wake at ungodly hours (if they went to bed in the first place), stand in line, trample over each other, push and shove to get the “hottest” new thing, and get impatient with their tired and overworked cashiers who have been ringing out large orders since the break of dawn (I was a cashier for 3 years, and have worked at least 2 black fridays). Today, I did not partake in tradition. Today, I stayed home. I slept in (amazed that my kids allowed this). We had a leisurely breakfast. Of course this happened after Sugar, our elf on the shelf, was found by Ewok and the presents from their elf were opened.
After Tank’s morning nap, I changed the kids into their Christmas outfits and took Christmas photos (and other fun shots).
Before I got them dressed I took some cute “naked baby” pics of Tank
Then Ewok wanted to take a Sleeping Beauty picture and wanted to show off how her Christmas dress twirled.
Both kids took an afternoon nap, giving me time to edit my photos from the day. Then I made dinner, we all ate, and while Tank looked on, Ewok and I played “go fish”.
Today was, by far, much more enjoyable than braving the crazy stores.
